Performance

Soap making Sense begins minimalistically – the audience watches an obviously bored protagonist in a space not defined enough to be significant. His static state is interrupted suddenly by a collision with a mobile vacuum cleaner. The event sparks the imagination of the protagonist, and the real show starts. His opponent in his game with soap is the Lady Cleaner, who operates the vacuum, but soon enough, she too succumbs to the poetic magic of bubbles. Seduction, love, hate, play... becomes the world of the two characters. In a series of comic scenes, composed of large and small translucent bubbles in different colours, smoke and steam, the actors end up in a huge bubble that could burst at any moment... This unique performance that spans generations also brings together the worlds of imagination and reality, which take the physical form of incredible soap bubbles, and is a play both children and adults will enjoy. Furthermore, the performer in the show possesses a unique talent for playing and creating a world out of soap and water. His laboratory on stage pushes limits, and defies gravity and physics.

Director

Luis Bevia is an actor in theatre and on film, as well as a director and screenwriter, known all over the world for his intermedial, wondrous performance with soap bubbles. He began his career in 1989, as an actor in Manel Cubed's War of the Worlds. He went on to act in the monologous play Gepetto, directed by Gianni Francheschini, where his talent was noticed during the production's Latin American tour.

Since 1992, he has worked in Madrid under the mentorship of Juan Pedro de Aguilar, performing in several productions of classic theatre. Two years later, his affection for film resulted in two films – Everyone is Equal and Without Words – Bevia acted in the former, and co-directed in the latter.

1998 was the crucial year of his career – this is when he met Pepe Bou, the master of play, and possibly also of the art of bubbles. With Bou and the suitcases with which he creates the miraculous world of bubbles, Bevia has toured all over the world, stopping in London, Tampere, Mexico and Hong Kong. And now, in Sarajevo.

The Theatre will continue to explore and promote the relations and links between theatre and the art of bubles, with the intention of raising existing standards and skills.
