Press Conference, 26th october 2010

Today, the Polish team of Teatr Dramatyczny came to talk about “A lover’s discourse”, performance which was played on the 25th october in SARTR Teatar. The director Radoslaw Rychcyk, and the actors Johanna Drozda, Klara Bielawka and Adam Graczyk answer the questions of Mess team and journalists.

Na PRESS konferenciji 25. oktobra povodom predstave “Fragmenti ljubavnog diskursa “prisustvovao je  reditelji Radoslaw Rychcyk i glumci Johana Drozda, Klara Bielawka i Adam Graczyk.

The text of the play, Roland Barthes’s “Lover’s Discourse”, talks about love. The troup explains that they simply chose this topic because everybody fall in love. Barthes book is about a fascinating story and is made of a great language. Radislaw Rychcik explains that using this philosophy book for a theatre performance was a real challenge for them.

They are then asked if this performance is a message for young people about love. Klara Bielawka answers that, more than a message, it is a gift made to the audience, an experience they want to share, and not only with young people.

Johanna Drazda says indeed that the 50 years old spectators respond particularly to the performance because of the language of the text, which may be more of their time.

The physical aspect of the performance is also very important. But Johanna Drazda explains that, even if everything started from the physical work, they tried to connect as well as possible language and body. Actors act with the whole body. People are used to see actors playing with their head but when you talk about love, you have to take in account the whole thing, head, and body.

“The Lover’s discourse” was played in the frame of Future Mess, which is dedicated to young directors under the age of 35. Despite this fact, the stage director thinks that the question of age is not so important, that he does not have any opinion about the difference between young and older directors. The thing is that it is a great opportunity for them to play in Sarajevo.

The play is not touring at the moment. Coming abroad is a new experience for them. The performance was played several times in Warsaw, and they won many fans who bought posters of the show; the performance is much more seen as a concert there than as a theatre play.
