The MESS Grand Prix Goes to Isabella's Room

In the early hours of 27 October 2009, the Jury of the  49th MESS International Theatre Festival, including Gjergji Prevazi  (Albania),  Damir Zlatar Frey  (Croatia), Kinga Keszethelyi (Hungary), Elie Malka (France) and Tatjana Šojić (BiH) revealed the winners among the 25 plays in this year's MESS selection.

Silver Laurel Wreath Award for Best Performance in the World MESS category

“Rejhan Demirdžić” Award or Best Young Actor/Actress (younger than 30)

The Special Jury Award for Best Ensemble goes to Ice, from Hungary.

Apart from the official awards presented by the MESS Festival Jury, the following awards provided by the MESS Festival media sponsors were also given out:

Dnevni Avaz – “The Avaz Dragon Award” – Ice, Hungary

The “Dani” Magazine – “Brave New World” Award – the cast of Lonesome West

Radio Sarajevo – „Sound of MESS“ – No Shadow, Austria. The Radio Sarajevo Special Award to the Tone Manager of Isabella's Room;

The “Key of the Tmača” Award, presented by the “Tmača Art” Magazine– The Other Side, Macedonia

According to the votes of the audience, the best play at this year's MESS was Ivan Popovski's „Times...Seasons“, with an average vote of 9.58/10.

As a reminder, the MESS dedicated its most significant award, the “Golden Laurel Wreath Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Art of Theatre” to Oskar Danon, and also to Haris Pašović's theatre company, EastWest Center. The “Marko Kovačević” Award for Theatre Criticism was presented to Safet Plakalo.
