48TH MESS INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL

AWARDS

At midnight on 28 October 2008, the Jury of the 48th Mess International Theatre Festival published their decision regarding the recipients of this year’s Festival awards:

Two MESS 2008 Special Jury Awards will be presented equally to:

Radmila Vojvodić, for her stage transposition and adaptation of Mirko Kovač’s drama “Danilo”, produced by the Montenegro National Theatre.

Selma Spahić for her courageous research in theatre in the play “Spring Awakening”, produced by Sarajevo’s Academy of Dramatic Arts.

The Silver Laurel Wreath Award in the CHILDREN Mess Category is awarded to

«Pika», produced by Ljubljana’s Slovenian Youth Theatre and directed by Vito Taufer

The Silver Laurel Wreath Award in the FUTURE Mess Category is awarded to

«One in Ten», a production of the Neos Kosmos Theatre of Athens, directed by Laertis Vasiliou and Sylvia Liouliou 

The Silver Laurel Wreath Award in the MittelEurope Category is awarded to

«Drums in the Night», directed by Martin Kočovski, and produced by the Vojdan Černodrinski National Theatre of Prilep

The Silver Laurel Wreath Award for Best Production in the World Europe Category

Awarded to «Truth in Translation», as directed by Michael Lessac and produced by New York’s «The Colonnades Theatre Lab»

The Juroslav Korenić Award for Best Young Director is awarded equally to

Filip Grinvald, for his direction of «The Path of Wild Animals», produced by Banja Luka’s National Theatre of Republika Srpska.

Martin Kočovski, for his direction of «Drums in the Night», produced by the  Vojdan Černodrinski National Theatre, Prilep.

The Rejhan Demirdžić Award for Best Young Actress is awarded to

Anja Stanić, for her performance in «The Path of the Wild Animals», a production of Banja Luka's National Theatre of Republika Srpska.

The Golden Laurel Wreath Awards for Best Acting is awarded on equal grounds to the following actors/actresses:

Samuel Finzi for his role in «Ivanov», produced by the Volksbuehne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz Theatre 

Julie Dossavi for her role in «P.I. Intimate Presentation (Earth),  as produced by the Off/Elsinor Company

Mirjana Karanović for her role in «Phaedra's Love», produced by the Yugoslav Theatre of Drama

The Golden Laurel Wreath Award for Best Direction is awarded equally to two directors:

Dimiter Gotcheff, for his direction of «Ivanov» teatra, prodcued by the Volksbuehne am Rosa-Luxemburg-platz Theatre

Claudio Valdes Kuri, for his direction of «Monsters and Prodigies – A History of the Castrati», as directed  by the Theatro de Ciertos Habitantes

And The Grand Prix Golden Laurel Wreath Award for Best Overall Play is awarded to:

“Sclavi/The Song of an Emigrant“, a production of the Farm Theatre Studio, Czech Republic
